In Oaxaca, mezcal is poured from the bottle into a jicarita — the wide, shallow clay cup designed to open the spirit to the air before the first sip. This is that ritual, in a set.
The kit includes one 18 oz decanter and four jicarita cups, all handmade Oaxaca, Mexico from regional clay fired at 2264°F. The jicarita holds 1.5 oz, the traditional Oaxacan pour — wide enough to nose, small enough to cradle in one hand. Subtle tonal variation between pieces is inherent to the small-batch firing process.
Pass the jicaritas. Set the decanter on the table. Let people pour.
